‘Friday the 13th’ Fan Film Heads To DVD, Shows Popularity Of Franchise

Paramount pictures better pull their collective heads out of their asses. Once again, proof has popped up that the ‘Friday the 13th’ franchise is in high demand and that fans want a brand new film.

A ‘Friday the 13th’ fan made film, entitled ‘Never Hike Alone’, is a 50-minute short that proved that not only can the franchise birth a successful film based off of it’s popularity, but that a film can be suspenseful, thrilling, gripping and scary without a high-budget production budget (hey, Platinum Dunes, you can learn a thing or two).

The fan-funded short is now headed to Blu-ray/DVD Combo Pack and limited edition VHS all thanks to a wildly successful Indiegogo campaign that launched on Thursday and, as of this writing, has raised over $22,000. It far exceeded the $13,000 goal.

Further illustrating the point, $13,000 was raised in just 20-minutes today, according to Bloody-Disgusting.

So, Paramount, if a fan-made film can prove to be successful, and the wildly popular ‘Friday the 13th: The Game‘ continues to show that there is fan interest, don’t you think it’s about time for a new movie?

If you’re not going to do anything about it, then sell the rights to someone who will.

By the way, here is the fan-made movie that is making all this noise.
