The highly anticipated and long overdue sequel to Tim Burton’s 1988 classic ‘Beetlejuice’ is currently filming and the film will see the return of Michael Keaton as the lead role of Beetlejuice for the sequel set to hit theaters on September 6th, 2024.
Keaton spoke about the approach to ‘Beetlejuice 2’, which will see both Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara reprise their roles, and will also see Jenna Ortega, Willem Dafoe and Justin Theroux join the cast as well.
“We’re doing it exactly like we did the first movie” Keaton said, during an interview with Empire. “There’s a woman in the great waiting room for the afterlife literally with a fishing line – I want people to know this because I love it – tugging on the tail of a cat to make it move.”
“Making stuff up, making stuff happen, improvising and riffing; but literally handmade stuff like people creating things with their hands and building something,” Keaton continued. “[It’s] fuckin’ great. It’s the most fun I’ve had working on a movie in I can’t tell you how long.”
The film has been a talking point for horror news journalists around the industry, so the hype is already firmly in place.
