REVIEW: It’s What’s Inside

It's What's Inside

Netflix is in full Halloween mode with a slew of horror classics and new releases rolling out this month including the release of the new horror/thriller ‘It’s What’s Inside’ which officially arrived on the platform earlier this month.

According to the official synopsis: “A pre-wedding reunion descends into a psychological nightmare for a group of college friends when a surprise guest arrives with a mysterious suitcase.”

The film stars Brittany O’Grady, James Morosini, Gavin Leatherwood, Nina Bloomgarden, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Reina Hardesty, Devon Terrell and David Thompson.

The movie doesn’t waste much time getting right to the heart of what the movie is about. Aside from the typical variety cast of characters that often seems lazily tossed together, it gets off to a good pace and keeps you intrigued with it’s mind-bending plot approach.

Solid acting, stellar cinematography and great mood lighting really help carry this movie along, even as it struggles to keep you aligned with what is going on.

Ultimately, the body switching game comes to a screeching halt as their inhibitions get the best of each person, and lead to tragedy.

This spins to moral compass out of control and leaves the group wondering what to do next, and taking turns in playing God.

Plenty of deceit, intrigue, and not many dull moments overcome typical dialogue, but it’s not enough to leave you feeling like you know what it going on. Grant it, there is value in a good mystery, but this film derails a bit too much to actually keep pace with.

A bit heavy on the twists that suffered without a deeper effort on character development, or understanding why such obviously different personalities are so deeply connected in the first place, especially since they seem more like strangers getting to know one another that close friends at times.

All in all, a good watch, especially if you like films that keep you guessing, and confused.
